The White House chief said the fighting would continue until the United States achieves all of its objectives.
“Earlier today, U.S. Central Command reported that three American service members were killed in action. As one nation, we mourn true American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Donald Trump said.
Earlier, U.S. Central Command said that on March 1, three U.S. service members were killed and five others seriously wounded during the U.S. operation against Iran, dubbed “Epic Fury.” Several additional U.S. troops sustained minor shrapnel wounds and concussions and are in the process of returning to duty.
Trump said that, “unfortunately, there will most likely be more losses,” but pledged to do everything possible to prevent that.
“America will avenge their deaths and deliver the most devastating blow to the terrorists who unleashed war against civilization itself,” he said.
U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran
On Feb. 28, 2026, Israel and the United States announced strikes on Iran — operations dubbed “Roaring Lion” by Israel and “Epic Fury” by the United States.
Multiple explosions were reported in Tehran and several other major Iranian cities. Media reports said the attacks targeted the residences of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as Iran’s military and nuclear facilities. Satellite imagery showed that Khamenei’s palace was completely destroyed.
Iranian state media confirmed that Khamenei was killed on the morning of Feb. 28 as a result of Israeli and U.S. strikes. The death of Mohammad Pakpour, commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was also confirmed. According to IRNA, the supreme leader’s chief security adviser, Ali Shamkhani, was also killed in the attack.
In response, Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel. Iranian missiles also struck Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, with reports of strikes on U.S. military bases.
