Kherson regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the report, specifying that a 24-year-old deminer was killed on the sport and their 25-year-old colleague died later in hospital.
Four other deminers were wounded in the attack; one is in serious condition, authorities said.
“The attack took place in Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:50 local time on 24 June. Both those killed and those injured are Ukrainian nationals,” the NPA said in its statement.

NPA has worked in Ukraine since 2022 and is among the
largest humanitarian organizations operating there. Its work includes
humanitarian demining and disposal of explosive ordnance, civilian protection
and community preparedness, food security support, and programs to prevent and
respond to sexual- and gender-based violence. The organization’s Ukraine
mission employs about 475 staff.
