Two Russian R-330Zh “Zhitel” electronic warfare systems were
destroyed in a fire at the Protek plant in Voronezh, Ukraine’s Defense
Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) reported on Feb. 17.
The R-330Zh “Zhitel” is an expensive automated Russian
electronic warfare system produced at the Protek plant.
“The R-330Zh EW systems were meant to be deployed to the
combat zone of Russia’s criminal war against Ukraine, but the fire in Voronezh
consumed both ‘Zhitel’ systems,” the statement said.
HUR called the destruction of the two “Zhitel” systems a
significant loss for the aggressor state. However, the agency did not specify
the cause of the fire at the Protek plant.
Voronezh has been a frequent target of drone attacks.
Explosions and damage were reported in the city on Jan. 10 and Feb. 13.
