“There is a political agreement; it concerns investments in expanding production in Ukraine,” Suspilne public broadcaster quoted Svyrydenko.
“Now the new defense minister, [former PM Denys] Shmyhal, will develop this proposal with the American side. After that, the technical work begins.”
Earlier, Zelenskyy told the New York Post that he and Trump had discussed a “mega-deal” under which the United States would buy Ukrainian drones tested in combat, while Ukraine would be allowed purchase a certain amount of U.S. weapons in return.
Zelenskyy said recent talks with Trump focused on a deal that would allow both countries to cooperate in aerospace tech. Ukraine, he added, is ready to share the experience it has gained during three years of war with Russia, noting that Kyiv has many unique, cost-effective UAV designs.
On July 14, Trump announced that the United States and NATO had reached an agreement on providing weapons to Ukraine. According to the president, Washington will sell the equipment to European NATO allies, who would then deliver the equipment to Ukraine.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte later clarified that the agreement involved a “huge amount of military equipment,” including air defense systems and missiles.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz later said Berlin would supply Ukraine with Patriot missile systems as part of the new U.S. deal. Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden also expressed readiness to participate in the initiative.
The New York Times reported that the equipment NATO plans to buy from the United States for Ukraine is nearly ready for immediate shipment.
