The talks at the Élysée Palace included French President
Emmanuel Macron’s diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi
Sunak’s national security adviser Jonathan Powell, and German Chancellor Olaf
Scholz’s national security adviser Jens Plötner.
According to Yermak, the delegations discussed further steps
toward a just peace, including the implementation of a full ceasefire. The
talks also covered the possible deployment of a multinational military
contingent and the development of an effective security architecture for
Ukraine.
Yermak earlier said the French capital would host a series
of bilateral and multilateral meetings with officials from coalition countries,
as well as talks with representatives of the United States. The Ukrainian
delegation includes Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Defense
Minister Rustem Umerov.
On April 16, Politico reported that U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were expected to arrive in Paris later this week.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
also announced a number of meetings focused on the possible deployment of
foreign troops in Ukraine.
