Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and General Staff had allocated 5 billion hryvnias ($120 million) for weapons aimed at striking Russian logistics deep behind the front line under the new “Logistics Lockdown” program, Mykhailo Fedorov said on May 27.

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine has quadrupled the destruction of Russian logistics, warehouses, equipment, command posts and supply routes in the rear over recent months.

The minister said there was a clear pattern: the more Russian logistics are destroyed, the fewer assault operations Russian forces conduct along the front line.

Fedorov also cited Russian casualty figures, saying that while Russian forces lost 67 troops per square kilometer (0.39 square miles) of territorial advance in October, the figure had risen to 179 by April. Russia is currently losing more than 35,000 troops killed or seriously wounded each month, he said.

The program will be implemented in two stages. During the first phase, funding will be allocated through the ePoints system to the most effective brigades specializing in deep-strike operations. The first units have already received financing and begun procurement.

During the second phase, centralized open tenders for a large batch of middle-strike systems will be launched, with results expected to become visible on the battlefield by summer.

“The enemy will no longer feel safe even far from the front line,” Fedorov said.

On May 21, Fedorov said the Defense Ministry had sharply increased the pace of deliveries of key weapons systems to the front line.

At the time, the minister also provided updated Russian casualty figures, saying Ukraine’s Defense Forces had significantly increased the monthly number of Russian troops killed and wounded.

Fedorov said Ukraine’s strategic objective was to halt Russia’s advance and regain the initiative on the battlefield.
