The pipeline has been inactive since a January Russian attack on western Ukraine which damaged some of its pumping and storage infrastructure. Hungary and Slovakia (both have EU waivers to keep importing Russian crude) dispute Ukraine’s assessment of the extent of the damage and the timeline for repairs, eager to see the deliveries of oil resume as soon as possible.
Koretskyi made the statement in a Facebook post after a meeting in Paris by a Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. He said the briefing included reports on the scale of the damage, the progress of repair efforts, and the pipeline’s current technical condition.
The delegation also discussed Ukraine’s ongoing energy decentralization
reform. Koretskyi said talks covered possible French business involvement in
distributed generation and strengthening Ukraine’s power system, and that
Naftogaz is interested in deeper cooperation with French energy companies and
equipment manufacturers.
