The corresponding memorandum was sent to Vladimir Medinsky, tapped by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to represent Moscow during ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine.
“I sent our document, which reflects Ukraine’s position, to the head of the Russian delegation; they received it,” Umerov wrote in a Facebook post.
The minister added that Moscow is delaying the delivery of its own memorandum on the matter.
“After strong statements from President Donald Trump, European leaders, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who have shown that the world is united in its pursuit of peace for Ukraine, the Russians finally announced they finished their memorandum; however, they are holding back on submitting the document,” Umerov added.
He reiterated that Ukraine is ready for a complete, unconditional ceasefire and subsequent broad peace negotiations. Kyiv also expects Russia to provide its ceasefire terms in the coming days.
“The Russian side has at least four days until departure [for direct talks in Istanbul on June 2] to hand over their document for review,” Umerov said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously said the Russian delegation is prepared to present its memorandum and offer necessary clarifications during a second round of negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on Monday, June 2.
