The new extension will be in effect from Aug. 12 to Nov. 9, 2024, marking the 12th time Parliament has addressed this issue.
The 60-day period for updating personal data, as mandated by the conscription law, expires on July 16. All eligible conscripts were required to update their information. This report explains any changes in July and the ongoing duration of conscription.
Ukrainian conscription 2024
Ukrainian Parliament passed the conscription bill No. 10449 on April 11, 2024. Effective May 18, this law replaces the traditional conscription military service system with a new program that introduces basic military training for Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 25 at all educational institutions. This training will last up to five months in peacetime and up to three months during martial law. The new system will begin on Sep. 1, 2025.
The law also includes updates to the procedures for military registration and the issuance of summons.
Conscripts must update their personal information by July 16. They should visit Administrative Service Provision Centers or Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) where they are registered. To update their information, they need to provide an ID, a tax identification number, and a phone. Data can also be updated online using the Reserve+ app. However, summonses will not be sent online through Reserve+.
The conscription law includes provisions for leave for current soldiers and compensation. Initially, the bill considered allowing demobilization after 36 months of continuous service, but this provision was removed during revision.
Conscription in Ukraine in July
As of July, men aged 18 to 60 can still receive summons, provided they do not have specific conditions for deferring service.
Ukraine’s military leadership has identified an urgent need for assault troops, artillerymen, drivers, IT specialists, and communications experts. Recruitment is necessary not only for front-line combat but also for various operational roles.
Who may be conscripted in July 2024
- Men aged 18 to 60 who are fit for service during martial law, provided they have military experience

- Men aged 18 to 60 who are removed from military registration but deemed fit (must undergo re-examination within nine months — by Feb. 4, 2025 — and receive a status of "fit" or "unfit") based on a decision by the Military Medical Commission
