Three FSB operatives arrested for sabotaging Ukraine’s railway infrastructure

The suspects used homemade incendiary mixtures following FSB instructions to carry out sabotage, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In Kyiv Oblast, the SBU detained a 21-year-old suspect linked to an arson group it had dismantled in December 2024. He had gone into hiding before allegedly setting fire to two relay cabinets near the capital on orders from Russia.

Two more suspects were arrested in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, including a 20-year-old repeat offender with a prior theft conviction, accused of setting fire to two relay cabinets in early 2025. A 16-year-old college student was caught in the act while trying to burn a relay cabinet at a railway crossing near Kamianske.

Investigators said the teenager’s next target was a freight train transporting Ukrainian military equipment to the front lines.

The SBU seized clothing, incendiary devices, and mobile phones containing evidence of the crimes.

The suspects were charged with sabotage under martial law and remain in custody, facing possible life sentences.
