Ukraine's air defense shot down five Russian drones overnight in Poltava, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Odesa, and Mykolaiv oblasts, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk stated on Telegram on Aug. 16.
The Russian military targeted Ukraine overnight with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles, three Shahed-type attack drones, and two unidentified UAVs. Mobile fire groups and electronic warfare units destroyed all of the drones.
On the night of August 15, air raid alarms sounded across many oblasts of Ukraine due to the UAV attack and the threat of ballistic missiles.
Explosions were heard in Kyiv, but authorities reported that the Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted the threats, with no damage or casualties in the capital.
