Cybercriminal linked to the Ryuk ransomware group has been extradited from Ukraine to the U.S.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has extradited to the United States a member of an international criminal group that used the Ryuk ransomware virus for cybercrime, as reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office on June 18.
The group carried out more than 2,400 cyberattacks in multiple countries, blocking access to data and demanding ransom payments. The total amount extorted exceeded $100 million.
In April 2025, Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained a foreign national in Kyiv at the request of the United States.

The Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv ordered the suspect held under extradition arrest. After all checks were completed and the extradition order took effect, the man was handed over to U.S. authorities on June 18.
