A detailed report outlining strategic recommendations to strengthen Ukraine's position against Russian aggression was presented at the U.S. military generals meeting.
"The key lesson today is the absolute necessity of air supremacy to achieve decisive military advantage," Deptula, a report co-author, said.
Achieving this could ensure protection for Ukraine's defense forces from enemy attacks and the ability to conduct their own offensive operations.
The meeting's participants stressed that Ukraine's air force could deliver the crucial edge needed to break Russian defense lines and change the course of the war.
"It's time to focus on what victory looks like, rather than just avoiding daily losses," the officials highlighted.
Ukraine's Air Force has long been under-resourced and lacking in capabilities, hindering their efforts to gain air supremacy.
The U.S. generals pointed out that without Ukrainian dominance in the skies, Russia, possessing a larger combat force and greater material resources is likely to win the war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier acknowledged that Russia's strategic advantage over Ukraine lies in its air supremacy.
