Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said he signed an order to form assault and unmanned systems regiments within National Guard corps, as well as a separate regiment for airspace protection, according to a statement posted on Telegram on March 10.

“A significant number of units within the Interior Ministry system are directly performing combat missions on the front line. We constantly analyze their deployment, the changing nature of combat operations and our wartime experience to improve effectiveness,” the minister wrote.

According to him, the main goal of this step is to strengthen the capabilities of units on the battlefield, scale up the use of modern technologies and improve the effectiveness of countering aerial threats.

“This approach has already produced results. In particular, the corps reform within the structure of the Defense Forces carried out last year has shown its effectiveness during combat operations,” Klymenko said.

He also assured that the ministry will continue scaling combat experience and technological solutions to “save the lives of our soldiers and improve the effectiveness of combat missions.”

In April 2025, the National Guard created two corps led by the commanders of the Azov and Khartiia units.
