Ukraine strikes Russian drilling platforms in Caspian Sea nearly 1,000 km from front line

According to preliminary information, the targets included an ice-resistant fixed platform (LSP-2) at the Valery Graifer field (formerly Rakushechnoye) and an ice-resistant fixed platform (LSP-1) at the Yuri Korchagin field.

“The drilling platforms are located in the northern Caspian Sea, nearly 1,000 kilometers from the front line, and are an important link in supplying fuel and lubricants to the Russian occupying army,” Ukraine’s General Staff said.

On April 6, Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madyar” Brovdi said the forces, together with the Navy, had successfully struck the Russian floating drilling platform Syvash.

Military blogger Serhii Misiura later said Russia used the platform for optical and radar surveillance and that elite Russian units were stationed there.

According to the blogger, the platform was attacked with FPV drones, Sargan 3000 unmanned surface vessels equipped with machine-gun turrets, and likely Swedish RBS-15 anti-ship missiles with a 200-kg warhead and a range of 200 kilometers.
