Emergency power cuts have been introduced in nine oblasts following overnight Russian attacks on the power grid and generating facilities, Ukraine’s national power company Ukrenergo announced on Telegram on Feb. 3.
Colder temperatures have also contributed to the power outages in Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, and Kyiv oblasts. Electricity consumption increased by 3.3% compared to Jan. 31.
Residents and businesses are urged to reduce consumption between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
