Ukraine and its partners are discussing the possibility of sending EU military instructors to train Ukrainian brigades, Deputy PM for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna announced on Nov. 25.

“Of course, we are talking about training exercises for Ukrainian troops; we currently see this as an element of equipping Ukrainian brigades,” public broadcaster Suspilne quoted Stefanishyna.

“We ensure that brigades are fully staffed; they must be provided with training and appropriate equipment.”

According to her, it is only a matter of time before Western instructors can train Ukrainian military personnel directly on Ukrainian territory.

“If we are discussing equipping about a dozen brigades capable of holding and advancing on the front, these combat-ready brigades are an entirely pragmatic solution we are moving toward,” the official said.

“Naturally, this is being discussed with European partners.”

Earlier on Nov. 25, French newspaper Le Monde reported, citing informed sources, that discussions in Europe have resumed regarding the deployment of troops or private military contractors to Ukraine.
