Hungary supplied the largest share of electricity imports (35% of the total), followed by Slovakia (30%). Meanwhile, Moldova provided the least electricity.
Compared to January, electricity imports from Hungary surged by 77%, and in comparison to February 2024, they nearly tripled.
Despite this increase, the reserved cross-border capacity was utilized at only 30-50%, depending on the time of day.
Ukraine reduced electricity imports by 56% in January compared to December 2024, with total imports dropping to 189,000 MWh. In January, Poland was the primary supplier (30%), whereas in December, Hungary held the largest share (35%).
For the full year of 2024, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 5.5 times compared to 2023, reaching 4.4 million MWh.
Hungary accounted for 39% of total imports, followed by Slovakia (23%), Romania (18%), Poland (14%), and Moldova (5%).
