Ukraine’s military intelligence agency released archival footage showing special forces from the Artan unit fighting on the Lyman axis, the agency’s press service said on Jan. 18.

During a combat raid deep into enemy positions, reconnaissance troops cleared a number of shelters and added Russian servicemen to the exchange pool, intelligence officials said.

On Dec. 18, the 3rd Army Corps reported assault actions on the Lyman axis, as a result of which a regiment of the aggressor state’s Russian army was destroyed. The corps said that coordinated action allowed Ukrainian forces to straighten the front line and improve the tactical situation in the area.

On Nov. 17, analysts at DeepState reported that Russian forces continue to pressure Lyman in Donetsk Oblast across the entire gray zone.

The Institute for the Study of War said the occupiers are trying to apply a new offensive tactic, first used near Pokrovsk, toward Siversk and Lyman to advance from the northeast and east.

On Dec. 1, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valeriy Herasimov falsely claimed that Russian troops had entered Lyman during a visit by dictator Vladimir Putin to one of the Russian army’s command posts.

The 3rd Army Corps later said that statements by Russia’s military command about a “breakthrough” in Lyman do not correspond to reality.
