Kyiv once again became a target of the attack, with the air raid alert lasting for more than 5 hours.
More than 10 enemy attack drones were intercepted by air defenses on approach to the Ukrainian capital and over the city itself.
“The third air attack on Kyiv in the last four days! And again a massive one!” the capital's governor, Serhiy Popko, wrote on Telegram, early on Aug 29.
“This time, the enemy used only attack drones of the preliminary Shahed type. They were launched from the partially occupied Kherson Oblast and Russia’s Kursk Oblast before midnight, around 11 p.m. (EET). The barrage munitions came at the capital in waves and from different directions.”
Debris from the intercepted drone fell on a residential building in the Holosiivskyi district, damaging windows and doors. Shaheds’ debris fell on a playground in the Dniprovskyi district and set fire to a gazebo in a cottage town in the Desnyanskyi district.
No casualties were reported by Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
In the city of Cherkasy, a fire broke out on the territory of a private enterprise due to falling drone debris.
In Kharkiv, a series of explosions were reported shortly after midnight by public broadcaster Suspilne.
Air raid alerts were issued in Kyiv, Zhyromyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv oblasts.
