Ukraine keeps up with Russia in UAV production — drone force commander / The New Voice of Ukraine

The Ukrainian military does not lag behind Russia in the number of UAVs used on the battlefield, and may even be ahead in that regard, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Commander, Col. Vadym Sukharevskyi, said on July 18.

“Just in the first two quarters of this year, we have supplied six times more drones to the military than all of last year,” he told Army TV, a YouTube channel ran by the Defense Ministry.

“This is a joint victory for both the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense.”

According to Sukharevskyi, Ukraine is testing and using more than 165 different drone designs on the battlefield.

“We are more agile; we have more than 165 different designs that are being tested and used on the battlefield,” the commander added.

“In terms of the number of drones, we are certainly not losing, and perhaps even winning.”

On Feb. 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Ukrainian military.

On June 10, Vadym Sukharevskyi was appointed as the commander of the new branch.
