He said a mechanism has already been developed for this procedure.
"As for the unreservation of medical workers, this is true. There is a well-established algorithm adopted following a decision by the National Security and Defense Council, which provided for the 100% reservation of medical personnel, including doctors working in state and municipal healthcare institutions," he said.
Liashko explained that the commander of the Medical Forces subsequently submits a request through the Defense Ministry to the Health Ministry, specifying the medical specialties and profiles needed to strengthen the Armed Forces' medical units.
"We apply a quota-based principle and pass this on to regional administrations. The regional administrations work with specific healthcare facilities, and a selection process takes place involving people who are willing, first and foremost voluntarily, to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the military's medical units," the minister said.
The selected medical worker is then released from reservation status and signs a one-year contract. After completing a year of service in the Armed Forces, the medic can return to their primary place of employment.
Liashko added that he has figures on the number of medical workers released from reservation status but promised to provide them either during a personal conversation or upon an additional request.
On May 15, Liashko said that, if requested by the Defense Ministry, the Health Ministry could release some medical workers from reservation status and involve them in service with the Armed Forces and other security structures.
