According to the official, there remains a risk of Russian provocations both in the direction of Kyiv and along Ukraine's western border. The primary objective of such actions in western Ukraine could be an attempt to disrupt strategic logistics and supply routes.
Border guards noted that similar scenarios and military maneuvers were observed at the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"There could be provocations in the direction of Kyiv, and there could be provocations along the western border aimed at disrupting logistics routes. We saw similar actions in 2022. We must, of course, prepare for the worst, but we must also be stronger than any threat that may come our way," the State Border Guard Service spokesperson said.
Threat from Belarus
On May 25, Ukraine's State Border Guard Service said it had not observed the formation of strike groups on Belarusian territory, although the threat from that direction remains constant.
At the same time, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warned that Russia could use Belarusian territory to launch drones in an effort to strike key logistics routes more accurately, including the Kyiv-Chop highway and supply corridors from Poland.
Against this backdrop, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Kyiv would respond firmly and proportionally to any hostile provocations.
At the same time, Unmanned Systems Forces Commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi warned Alexander Lukashenko of serious consequences and said Ukraine had already identified 500 targets in Belarus in the event of the country's direct entry into the war.
