Ukraine must choose between continued fighting and negotiations — Blinken

In an interview with MSNBC, he stated that the United States aims to enable Kyiv to make the choice in 2025.

“Ukrainians must make fundamental choices about continuing the fight or pursuing negotiations to try to achieve a ceasefire,” Blinken said.

At the same time, he noted that the key question is whether Moscow is prepared to negotiate.

“However, if it comes to negotiations, we want to ensure the Ukrainians and the Trump administration have the strongest possible positions for making the best possible deal,” the secretary continued.

Blinken clarified that Washington’s focus is on bolstering Ukraine's position on the battlefield, as well as maintaining pressure on Russia.

He added that a ceasefire must occur under just conditions with a long-term perspective: it is crucial not to allow Russia to rest, rearm, and attack again in one, two, or five years.
