Ukraine needs $400 billion for reconstruction in the next decade, says German Ambassador

According to the ambassador, the figure has emerged from research done by the Ukrainian government, the EU, and the World Bank. Feldhusen notes that $400 billion would cover rebuilding assets that were destroyed or damaged by Russian attacks.

She added that Ukraine’s reconstruction is “already underway,” but retaining the trust of Kyiv’s international partners who are providing these funds will require Ukraine to become a model of corruption prevention, rule of law, and good governance.

On April 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the world to direct all confiscated Russian assets towards Ukraine's reconstruction.

In late March, Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal declared that $411 billion was needed for Ukraine's eventual recovery.

According to a survey conducted by Rating polling firm in February, 89% of Ukrainians believe that the rebuilding of the country's destroyed infrastructure should be financed through the seizure of Russian assets abroad or reparations from Moscow.
