Norway the latest to join Ukraine's growing list of security allies in diplomatic push

Following the directives of the G7's joint declaration in support of Ukraine, Zelenskyy had Presidential Office deputy head Ihor Zhovka meet with Norway’s Foreign Affairs Special Representative for Ukraine, Kristian Sise, to discus the security pact.

"Norway is a key partner in Northern Europe, supporting Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion,” said Zhovkva.

“It's crucial that today we began the process of formalizing the security commitments between our nations."

The parties discussed the main structural components and sections of the future agreement and agreed on a schedule for further work, the President's Office said.

Ukraine signed two security agreements with Canada and Italy on Feb. 24, 2024, the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Ukraine signed a security agreement with Denmark on Feb. 23, becoming the first country outside the G7 to join the security guarantees for Ukraine.

Prior to this, Ukraine had signed similar agreements with the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
