“I’m a former service member, so I like to talk about strategy,” Łukasiewicz said in an interview with NV Radio.
“Ukraine’s security and Poland’s security are closely tied by our shared opponent. Our challenge, of course, is an aggressive Kremlin, an aggressive Moscow, and aggressive Russians. That connection underpins our closeness, our unity and, to a degree, our shared vision for the future.”
On Jan. 16, Polish President Karol Nawrocki warned that Russia’s goals go beyond repressing its own citizens. “Its aims include territorial expansion, mass killings and attacks on civilian targets, including hospitals and schools,” he said. “Poland, which has bordered Russia for centuries, understands the threat from Moscow better than most. Only by strengthening the defense capabilities of all our allies and maintaining our unity can we deter Russia.”
Nawrocki added that Russia will not give up its expansionist ambitions even after the war in Ukraine ends.
