“On the eve, a package of missiles for NASAMS arrived in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
“Thank you. It’s a very good package. We are talking with all our partners to ensure that the necessary missiles for Patriot systems are also provided.”
Russian forces used more than 100 drones to attack Ukraine that day, Zelenskyy added. As of 6 p.m., 29 of the drones were jet-powered, and Ukrainian forces had shot down 18 of them.
“Most of the conventional Shahed drones were shot down,” the president said.
“We are preparing for new talks, including on air defense and further support for Ukraine. The talks will take place this week. I want to thank all our partners who are fulfilling our agreements and supplying interceptor missiles for air defense.”
On Sept. 22, Zelenskyy said he had not yet received a specific response from the United States regarding the supply of missiles for Patriot systems.
On Sept. 24, Zelenskyy said Ukraine had reached an agreement on a new package of missiles for Patriot air defense systems but did not disclose which country was involved.
On Sept. 27, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said Warsaw was ready to host production of Patriot missiles under a Ukrainian license because it considers Polish territory safer for such a facility.
