Shmyhal said the country endured its toughest winter since independence.
“Despite heavy attacks by Russia and low temperatures, our power grid held,” he said.
He added 3.5 GW of the roughly 9 GW damaged at thermal, combined-heat-and-power and hydroelectric plants have been partially restored. About 900 MW of distributed generation have been brought online, including 400 MW of new gas-fired and cogeneration units.
Additionally, import transfer capacity for electricity was increased from 1.7 GW to 2.45 GW.
Shmyhal reported that the Energy Support Fund (filled with
donations from international partners) has raised EUR691 million ($800 million).
The Energy Ministry’s investment portfolio now includes 55 projects worth about
UAH1 trillion ($22.85 billion).
