Russian forces launch 1,800 drones, 3,200 artillery strikes

Ukrainian forces repelled 133 Russian attacks along the frontlines over the past 24 hours, most of them in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka sectors, where the enemy attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 64 times, the General Staff reported on Facebook late on Oct. 2.

Throughout the day, Russian forces carried out 47 airstrikes, launched 115 guided bombs, 1,803 kamikaze drones, and more than 3,200 artillery attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.

In the northern sectors, Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks near Vovchansk, Kupyansk, Lyman, Siversk, and Kramatorsk. Thirteen enemy assaults were recorded in the Toretsk sector, six in the Siversk sector, and ten near Lyman—all of which were repelled.

The fiercest fighting was reported near the city of Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian troops repelled 36 enemy assaults. Ukrainian defenders eliminated 114 Russian troops, including 75 killed, destroyed 13 drones and one artillery piece, and damaged several other pieces of equipment.

In the Novopavlivka sector, enemy forces carried out 28 assaults near Novokhatsk, Komyshuvakha, Sosnivka, Sichneve, and Berezove.As of the evening update, four combat engagements were ongoing. 

In Zaporizhzhya Oblast, Russian forces attempted to advance near Orikhiv and Hulyaipole but were unsuccessful.

In Kherson Oblast, four assaults were repelled near the Antonivskyi Bridge. 

The situation in other sectors remained largely unchanged.
