The Lyut NRC is designed to support Ukrainian units with surveillance and fire capabilities, according to the Ministry of Defense. Armed with a 7.62-caliber machine gun and additional gear, the robot can detect and target enemies day or night.
Equipped with a silent electric motor, the Lyut NRC’s battery offers extended operation. Its high ground clearance ensures stability on complex terrain, and its compact size allows it to fit in a military pickup truck.
The operator controls the robot from a protected position, reducing exposure to danger. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the robot’s primary role is to enhance Ukrainian forces and replace troops in high-risk areas.
In February, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced a new project aimed at expanding the use of unmanned ground robotic systems in the military.
Ukrainian military equipment at the front
On Nov. 2, 2024, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense officially deployed the Tavria combat module, a remotely controlled turret equipped with two machine guns, including a large-caliber one.
Ukrainian officers said the system can capture and track targets, conducting aimed fire on moving objects day and night.
On Dec. 21, the Ministry of Defense introduced the Wolly remotely controlled combat module, which is lightweight enough for one soldier to transport. The battery provides several days of operation.
On Jan. 30, the Ministry of Defense announced the deployment of the Ukrainian-made Zmiy unmanned ground complex. Designed for logistical and evacuation tasks, it offers ballistic and mine protection.
On Jan. 31, the Ministry confirmed the approval of the Gromylo unmanned aviation complex. This system targets enemy troops, equipment, and field shelters.
On Feb. 4, the Ministry of Defense also approved the Gimli ground robotic complex, which will be used for evacuating and moving personnel, transporting supplies, and other critical tasks.
