Turkiye’s imports of Ukrainian agricultural goods grew by 16% to $1.48 billion between January and July 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
During this period, imports of Ukrainian corn surged 2.4 times, from $322.9 million to $760.6 million, while imports of Ukrainian soy rose by 80%, from $141.9 million to $255.4 million.
At the same time, imports of Ukrainian sunflower oil decreased by 18%, from $389.9 million to $319 million.
“Soybeans, corn, and sunflower oil together accounted for 90% of Turkiye’s total imports of Ukrainian agricultural products this year, compared to 69% in 2024,” the report wrote.
“The surge is largely due to the fact that part of the Ukrainian products purchased by Turkiye is re-exported to Iran.”
However, the report notes that in the second half of 2025, imports of soy and corn from Russia to Turkiye are expected to increase, as Russia remains a traditional supplier of these products to both Iran and Turkish consumers. As a result, Ukraine’s share in the Turkish market may decline.
Demand in Turkiye for Ukrainian corn remains stable due to its clear price advantage over domestic supply.
Turkiye has become the largest importer of Ukrainian grains and oilseeds — 6.645 million tons, followed by Spain (6.243 million tons) and Egypt (4.573 million tons).
Last season, Ukraine exported 21.5 million tons of corn worth nearly $4.5 billion, out of a domestic production of 25.9 million tons. Turkey was the leading buyer of Ukrainian corn, importing 5.5 million tons.
