Ukrainian company Scientific and Production Enterprise Energo-Plus, which aims to relocate and install a closed thermal power station from Turkiye to Ukraine, is seeking a private investor to finance the project, according to outlet Energoreforma.

The director of the enterprise, Yevhen Korf, stated that the company is in the initial stages of implementing the project and is actively negotiating with the seller and a partner company that will partially or fully finance the relocation of the TPP to Ukraine.

"The main problem is that the owner company insists on 100% payment of the TPP cost," Korf said.

“And our Turkish partners, who are ready to dismantle the TPP, transport the equipment, and assemble the facility in Ukraine, want to receive an advance payment of 50-70% of the cost of the work.”

This would require an advance payment of 85-90% of the total cost of the plant and the work to relocate it, which is practically unrealistic for any state enterprise.

The director of Energy-Plus expressed hope for state support in launching the TPP once an investor is found.

"When the issue of finding an investor is resolved, we expect the state authorities to promptly process the necessary permits, which will allow the new TPP to start operating immediately," Korf said.

“However, I am confident that there will be no difficulties here, as everyone is aware of the complexity of the situation in the energy sector.”

Previously, NV reported that Scientific and Production Enterprise Energo-Plus plans to implement the first project in Ukraine to relocate and install a new TPP from Turkiye. The facility was built between 2016 and 2018 but was never launched due to rising natural gas prices in that country.

Korf mentioned that the plant’s readiness is 90%, but all 100% of the components are in the facility’s warehouse. The TPP has a high efficiency coefficient, and its installed capacity is 60 MW. It is equipped with Rolls-Royce turbines, Siemens generators, and Alstom transformers.

According to Energy-Plus's calculations, the process of relocating and installing the TPP can be completed within 8-12 months, and the estimated cost of the project is around €50 million ($56 million).
