Ukrainian Military Intelligence has been coordinating several undercover teams to carry out UAV strikes targeting strategic bomber aircraft deep inside Russian territory, an informed source told NV on Aug. 21.

In the last few days, these sabotage groups have disabled five Russian military aircraft that were part of Moscow’s terror bombing campaign against Ukraine, according to our source.

Early in the morning on Aug. 21, two bombers were damaged at Shaikovka airfield in Russia’s Kaluga Oblast.

“These drone operations are coordinated by [Military Intelligence] and have inflicted significant losses on the enemy's aviation,” our contact said.

“And most importantly, these planes [Tu-22M3 strategic bombers] are no longer produced in [Russia].”

On Aug. 19, agents working with Ukrainian Military Intelligence attacked a military airfield in Soltsy, Novgorod Oblast, with drones. One Tu-22M3 bomber was destroyed, and two other planes were damaged. Moscow eventually admitted that the attack left one aircraft “damaged,” even though a widely-shared photo showed the plane completely engulfed in flames.
