The Ukrainian Railway’s online reservation system and related services were targeted in a large-scale cyberattack on March 23, Ukrzaliznytsia said in its official statement posted on Telegram the following morning.

The restoration of all systems is underway and is being carried out in cooperation with the cyber department of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU). Train traffic is not affected, runs smoothly without delays, backup format is in place for all operational processes.

"The latest attack was very systematic, non-trivial, and multi-level, requiring thorough testing of services for vulnerabilities by the SBU Cyber Department before full recovery from backups," the statement said, noting that this is not the first cyberattack on Ukrzaliznytsia.

Online ticket sales for domestic and international routes will remain unavailable throughout the day, but can be purchased at ticket counters that have been expanded and staffed. Priority will be given to departures on March 24 and 25.

To avoid overcrowding, train crews will be able to issue tickets on the spot for those who are unable to purchase tickets in advance.

Those wishing to return a train ticket can do so online by sending a scanned copy or clear photo of the ticket with contact information to services.uz.gov.ua@gmail.com at least one hour before departure. Refunds will be processed within three days of systems being restored.
