Ukrainian forces have stabilized the situation along the Huliaipole, Oleksandrivka and Novopavlivka front sectors, Colonel Valentyn Manko, head of the Assault Forces Department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported on Facebook late on Nov. 17.

Russian troops are not making any further gains in the frontline areas of Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

“The situation is stable today. The enemy’s advance has been made impossible. We are moving on to the next stages of our plans,” Manko wrote adding that Ukrainian forces had halted Russian offensive efforts around Huliaipole.

His comments contrast with earlier assessments published by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The U.S.-based think tank said the situation near Huliaipole remains "very serious," as Russian forces have been intensifying offensive operations in the area.

Russian infiltration in the area has reached “new levels,” with enemy infantry spotted as far as five kilometers from the frontline, penetrating well behind Ukrainian defensive positions in the sector.
