HUR unit strikes Russian landing ships Yamal and Filchenkov in Crimea

Military intelligence carried out the operation overnight into April 19.

At the time of the strike, both Russian Black Sea Fleet ships were in Sevastopol Bay. As a result of the attack, the vessels were disabled, Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) said.

The Project 775 landing ship Yamal, built in 1988, is 112.5 meters long and can carry up to 500 tons of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops. Its estimated value exceeds $80 million.

The Project 1171 landing ship Nikolai Filchenkov, built in 1975, has a cargo capacity of up to 1,000 tons, allowing it to transport dozens of armored vehicles and a large landing force. According to HUR, the ship is valued at more than $70 million.

The Prymary unit also destroyed a Russian Podlyot-K1 radar station in Sevastopol worth about $5 million.

Earlier on April 18, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said three Russian military ships were hit in Crimea — the landing ships Yamal and Azov, and a vessel of an unspecified type. In addition, SBU drones damaged an antenna block of the Delfin communications system, the MR-10M1 Mys-M1 radar system, and fuel storage tanks at the Yugtorsan oil depot.
