The Rheinmetall Skynex anti-aircraft artillery system, now in service with Ukraine’s Air Force, is demonstrating “impeccable results” in destroying enemy strike UAVs, according to a video published by the military.
The Air Force highlighted the effectiveness of the system’s 35 mm automated cannon in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
Ukraine received its first Skynex systems in April 2023.
Earlier, the Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 623 aerial attack vehicles overnight on July 12. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 602 of them.
Explosions were heard across multiple Ukrainian cities during the night, particularly in the western oblasts. In Chernivtsi, two people were killed and 14 injured in the Russian attack, which also damaged residential buildings.
Russian invaders also struck Kharkiv, wounding three people. In Lutsk, a fire broke out in a private house following a strike involving two missiles and 35 drones.
