Ukrainian drones torch Rosneft refinery in Ryazan - Photos

Regional governor Pavel Malkov confirmed the attack, claiming that “UAV debris fell on the territory of the industrial enterprise.”

The plant's ELOU-AVT-6 atmospheric vacuum tube distillation unit, which processes over six million tons of petroleum products per year, was likely hit.

According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), the attack was carried out by the country’s Unmanned Systems Forces.

Following the previous drone attack on August 2, the Ryazan refinery had to cut its throughput capacity in half and shut down two primary processing units: CDU-3, which can crack 8,600 tons of crude per day, and CDU-4, which can crack 11,400 tons per day.

Last year, the refinery processed 13.1 million tons of crude oil, producing 2.3 million tons of gasoline, 3.4 million tons of diesel fuel, 4.2 million tons of fuel oil, and 1 million tons of aviation fuel.

A series of overnight explosions were also reported in Lipetsk Oblast, where the Energia plant, Russia's largest producer of lithium-ion batteries, was reportedly targeted. 

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that 92 drones were “intercepted and destroyed” overnight.
