On Jan. 8, Ukraine’s Armed Forces carried out a precision strike on the command post of Russia’s 8th Guards Combined Arms Army in Khartsyzk, Donetsk Oblast, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.

The building had been used by Russian occupying forces to coordinate attacks against Ukraine’s Armed Forces and civilians, particularly residents of Kurakhove.

“All necessary measures were taken to minimize risks to civilians,” the General Staff said in a statement.

On Jan. 6, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it had fully captured Kurakhove in Donetsk Oblast. However, Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported that fighting continues in the city’s urban areas.

Russia’s Defense Ministry described Kurakhove as a “heavily fortified area” and a “key logistical hub.”

Ukraine’s Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Forces reported that Russian troops are conducting assault operations in Kurakhove, moving toward Petropavlivka and Dachne.

On Jan. 7, Ukraine’s General Staff reported a strike on the command post of Russia’s 810th Separate Marine Brigade near the village of Bila in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

Earlier, on Jan. 2, Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, announced another successful strike on the same brigade.

A Dec. 26 report revealed that a Dec. 25 strike on the command post of the 810th Brigade in Lgov, Kursk Oblast, likely resulted in the death of the brigade’s deputy commander and 17 other Russian soldiers.
