“Despite the war, we are actively working to launch 5G in Ukraine,” Fedorov said in a Telegram post.
“In addition to Lviv, Kharkiv, and Borodyanka will join the tests. The start is scheduled for this fall.”
Both Kharkiv and Borodyanka have suffered significant damage from Russian attacks, making them challenging environments to trial the new technology.
“Ukraine can implement innovations even amid potential supply disruptions and limited resources,” the minister added.
“Experts will also be able to assess the potential of 5G in rebuilding cities, from smart municipal solutions to digital services for citizens.”
Fedorov said Ukraine plans to phase out 3G service by 2030.
“This will happen step by step so people won’t notice abrupt changes; the new technology will deliver faster internet, more stable connection, and more efficient networks,” he said.
