Kubrakov noted that in January 2024, Ukraine exported 6.7 million tons of agricultural products by sea routes (including the Black Sea and the Danube).
“Just 370,000 tons were exported in transit through Poland, accounting for roughly 5% of the total [agricultural product] exports,” said Kubrakov.
“The main channels for us are obviously the Black Sea and the Danube. We will continue to develop and increasingly shift our cargoes there.”
Kubrakov added that Ukraine intends to start exporting value-added products to Romanian ports using barges on the Danube in upcoming days. Previously, this type of goods was usually transported by land through the Polish border.
“The first two ships will be departing in the next few days,” the minister said.
“We also expect that up the Danube, to the markets of Germany and Austria, we will be able to deliver our producers' products, while of course bypassing Poland. It's an alternative route.”
