Russia launches missiles and drones at Ukraine; 33 UAVs intercepted overnight

Russian forces launched an overnight attack on Ukraine, using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 50 Shahed drones, and various decoy drones, Ukraine's Air Force reported on Jan. 17.
As of 9 a.m., air defenses shot down 33 drones over Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts.
Nine UAVs were lost in Ukrainian airspace, and one exited toward Romania, according to the Air Force.
Drone strikes hit enterprises in the Odesa region, while debris damaged institutions, businesses, and homes in Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Kyiv oblasts.
In Kyiv Oblast, a 12-year-old boy was injured, and a fire broke out at a cafe-shop.
In Odesa, port infrastructure was targeted, and homes were damaged.
