Russian troops launched an overnight missile strike using cluster munitions on a training unit of Ukraine’s Land Forces, according to a statement from the Land Forces on Telegram on Aug. 12.

The command stated that personnel were promptly notified of an air raid alert. However, while moving to shelters, a group of soldiers was hit by cluster munitions.

One soldier was killed, 11 were injured with varying degrees of severity, and 12 others sought medical attention for acoustic trauma (concussion) and acute stress.

“To preserve the lives and health of personnel, continuous efforts are underway to equip training centers, ranges, and other military facilities with reliable shelters,” the statement reads.

“Additional safety measures are also being implemented to protect servicemembers during enemy missile and air attacks.”

On June 24, Russian forces attacked a Land Forces training center with Shahed drones, injuring one soldier who was hospitalized.

On June 22, Russia struck a training ground of a mechanized brigade with a missile, injuring 14 soldiers and killing three.
