Ukrainian forces are pushing back Russian invasion troops in Kherson Oblast, and the frontline there is now "flexible," Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk said on national television on Nov. 15.

Humeniuk said that the Russians positioned along the front line running alongside the Dnipro River feel "very uncomfortable," but are actively defending themselves, employing heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and aviation.

"They understand that the advance of the (Ukrainian) Armed Forces is inevitable, but they cannot predict from which direction such danger will await them,” Humeniuk said.

“The pushback from our side is taking place along a line of 3 to 8 kilometers along the entire line from the water's edge. The front line is quite flexible today."

Humeniuk said that the military cannot disclose all the measures it is taking, but that Ukrainian forces are "obviously pressing" the invaders.

"For now, we’re asking for information silence so that our plans can work, allowing us to report on great successes later," Humeniuk added.

What is happening on the left bank of the Dnipro in Kherson Oblast?

Since mid-October, the U.S.-based think tank Institute for the Study of War has reported on the successes of Ukrainian forces and it advances on the left bankof the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast.

The institute reported a breakthrough across the Dnipro to the occupied part of the region near the village of Oleshkivska. At the time, judging by the reaction of Russian “war correspondents,” this operation could be more significant than previous similar raids by Ukrainian forces, the institute said.

At the end of October, analysts reported Ukrainian advances to the village of Krynky, and on Nov. 10, there was speculation about the possible expansion of the bridgehead and the cutting of the vital road from Nova Kakhovka to Oleshky.

The Ukrainian military officially refuses to comment on these reports, stating only that the combat work of Ukrainian soldiers continues.
