Polish police arrested a Ukrainian citizen in Warsaw on suspicion of involvement in plotting sabotage at the Carfil factory in Brasov, Romania, Polish radio station RMF24 reported on Oct. 28.

The detainee, a 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen identified as Artem S., is expected to be extradited to Bucharest under a European arrest warrant.

The Ukrainian is suspected of involvement in a sabotage group working for Russia. The group consisted of three people — the Ukrainian and two Belarusian citizens.

Artem S. was responsible for reconnaissance, including identifying a target for a planned arson attack and financing the operation.

According to RMF24, the two Belarusians were detained in Germany.

The sabotage group planned attacks on Ukrainian military training centers, state-owned and private weapons manufacturers, and other facilities.

On Oct. 27, Romania's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador to protest a sabotage incident that occurred on Sept. 14 at the Carfil arms factory in Brașov.

On Oct. 26, the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) announced that it had uncovered a sabotage network coordinated with Russia and linked to an attempted arson attack at the Carfil arms factory.

The investigation confirmed the involvement of several "citizens of former Soviet republics" residing in EU countries in the sabotage operation.
