"A significant portion of the missiles used in the attack were ballistic," Svyrydenko emphasized, commenting on the combined missile and drone assault on critical energy facilities overnight.

Urgent coordination meetings have been held with key ministries, state energy companies, and regional authorities responsible for emergency restoration efforts. 

“There are instructions for each oblast. All services are working to restore power as quickly as possible. In Kyiv and Kirovohrad Oblast, we expect water supply to be fully restored by the end of the day,” Svyrydenko said, adding that critical infrastructure in the capital has already been restored, and work is ongoing in other affected regions. 

Rolling blackouts are in effect in Kyiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Sumy oblasts.

To mitigate the impact of the strikes, authorities are deploying alternative energy sources on-site, including generators and emergency shelters, as well as additional communications support.

Security measures have also been intensified, with an increased presence of police patrols in Kyiv and other regions, including on public transportation.

Earlier in the day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian forces had launched more than 450 drones and over 30 missiles in a massive overnight attack targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian facilities.

A seven-year-old child was killed in Zaporizhzhya. More than 20 people were injured across the country.

Parts of the Ukrainian capital remain without power.

Blackouts have also been reported in Kyiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, and Kherson oblasts.
