“The number of Russian drones destroyed on the front shows
the decisive role technology plays in modern warfare. Effectively countering
drones saves the lives of Ukrainian service members and civilians,” the
ministry said.
About 195,000 of the drones were fixed-wing models, while
another 66,000 were multicopters.
In July, Ukrainian forces destroyed 40,438 Russian
fixed-wing drones, up from 27,711 at the end of May.
Confirmed multicopter drone shootdowns also rose, from
14,071 at the end of June to 19,945 in July.
On Aug. 2, as Ukraine marked Air Force Day, acting Ukrainian
Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara said the country’s air defenses had destroyed
more than 445,000 Russian aerial targets since Feb. 24, 2022.
