Ukrainian forces strike fuel and refueling complex at Sochi airport in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai

Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a drone strike on a Russian fuel facility near Sochi airport on Aug. 3, sparking a large fire, according to the General Staff.

The operation was conducted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Drone Systems Unit in coordination with other elements of the Defense Forces. The targeted facility reportedly housed Russian military aviation assets.

“A major fire broke out at the site,” the General Staff said in a statement. “The Defense Forces continue taking all necessary measures to undermine the enemy’s military and economic potential and to end Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.”

Earlier, Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that drones struck an oil depot in the Adler district of Krasnodar Krai. The facility, identified as Rosneft-KubanNefteProdukt, is located near Sochi International Airport.

Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev later confirmed that drone debris hit a fuel tank in Adler, causing a fire.
