On March 11, Russia’s “Vestnik Togo Samogo Stalkera” (“Herald of That Very Stalker”) group on the banned VKontakte social network posted several demands to the game developers.
In particular, the hackers asked to add the Russian localization, lift the ban on the NF Star profile in the official developers’ Discord, and stop alleged “inappropriate behavior of game developers” regarding players from Russia and Belarus.
If the requirements are not met by March 15, the blackmailers threatened to leak 30 GB of data about the upcoming game.
As proof of their intentions, they published several screenshots and parts of the game.
Meanwhile, GSC Game World wrote on Twitter that it would not comply with any demands and advised everyone to refrain from watching or distributing information about the game as it could be unreliable.
The company’s tweet received widespread approval among followers who promised to wait for the official release of the game. They also suggested that the company remove the Russian subtitles if the hackers go ahead and leak the data.
